Cash prizes totalling US$6,000 and Apple iPads are up for grabs this weekend as ASATT hosts it’s inaugural 10km swim
As published earlier today in the Trinidad Express …
The Amateur Swimming Association of Trinidad and Tobago (ASATT) will be hosting its inaugural Petrotrin 10 kilometre Open Water Swim at the Guapo Beach Facility, Guapo on Sunday.
ASATT has joined with the state enterprise as part of the company’s celebration of 20 years of service to the country.
The hosting of the event follows through on the new ASATT executive’s promise to introduce more aquatic opportunities to the community, this time in the discipline of open water swimming.
In the last two years, open water events—the 5K and 10K—have been included in the Carifta Swimming Championships, the Central American and Caribbean Age Group Swimming Championships (CCCAN), the Caribbean Islands Swimming Championships (CISC) and the Central American and Caribbean Games (CAC) all the way up the chain to the Olympics where it was introduced at the 2012 London Games.
Besides the main event, the 10k swim, there will be competition in two other categories: the 5×2,000m relay Open age group and the 5×2,000m relay where the sum of five team members’ ages must equal 200 years or more.
Challengers taking part in this open water swimming event on Sunday will enjoy being a part of this inaugural event.
